Why PortusQuest Exists
PortusQuest is an independent, Portuguese travel project created by local guide Ricardo Tito. We believe travel should be personal, meaningful, human and memorable.

Explore deeply.
Connect genuinely.
Our purpose is not to visit as many places as possible, but to explore places deeply, understand their stories and connect with the communities that give them life.
Our special focus is Portugal’s historic, rural and mountainous interior — Beira Interior, Beira Baixa and Alto Alentejo — alongside places like Tomar and Évora.
Our Philosophy
We don’t collect places. We connect with them.
We choose depth over distance, authenticity over spectacle and connection over crowds — leaving space for conversations, discoveries and genuine human connections.
Travel Responsibly
Respecting local communities, natural landscapes and cultural heritage.
Support Local
Where possible, prioritising independent producers, traditional businesses and local partnerships.
Explore with Curiosity
Sharing history through meaningful storytelling, questions and conversation.
Move at a Human Pace
Choosing quality experiences over overloaded itineraries.
Welcome Everyone
Creating a friendly and respectful environment where travellers feel comfortable and included.
Stay Genuine
Being transparent, personal and faithful to our values.

Meet Ricardo Tito — The Story Behind PortusQuest
Four years in mainstream tourism. One conviction: travel can be different.
After five years guiding travellers across Portugal and Spain, Ricardo Tito founded PortusQuest in response to the fast pace of modern tourism.
Having witnessed how rushed itineraries can reduce remarkable places to brief stops, he envisioned a more meaningful way to travel: personal, thoughtful and rooted in history, heritage and local traditions.
PortusQuest was born from this conviction — to create genuine connections between travellers, places and the people who bring them to life.
“I spent four years guiding in mainstream tourism before creating PortusQuest, and every quest we craft is my personal rebellion against rushed, superficial travel.”
“I didn’t create this experience to tick boxes or rush from one monument to another. I created it because I genuinely love Portugal’s history, its people, its culture and, I must admit, our incredible monastic sweets!”
“If you love history, art, culture and discovering places with genuine curiosity, I’d love to share that passion with you. Let’s leave the crowds behind, slow down and discover Portugal together.”
